Walking at night can be therapeutic in the context of calm and nothingness. This upsetting loneliness can be supplemented with the help of a recent unfortunate event, to whatever magnitude. The ways in which people coax themselves into thinking everything is going to be alright is interestingly typical. Some of us call people we haven’t spoken with in a while, or someone we just recently encountered. Others will briskly walk through the night acting as though they are the featured guest at a party in which they are late, while the rest waltz along the sidewalk blending with the night ink and sounds of quiet. The ways in which people act parallel with the things that are going on in their lives; walking at night is no different.
Currently, the only way I can do this is with my blood savaged with booze and lungs filled with smoke.
I find the night very intimidating.
